Nutria Squid

by Tomasz Bogdanovich - Pike Terror Flies

Description:
1 On the sea hook (Ahrex SA270 Blueawater, size 6/0) I wind a large rooster feather (saddle, schlappen) in the form of a blackberry. It forms a support for the subsequent steps. You can interchangeably use deer tail hair (bucktail)

2.On the formed base rest 3-4 pairs of short saddle cock feathers. Calamari have 10 arms, two of which are noticeably longer. We tie the feathers star-shaped - so that they spread to the sides.

3. add 2 narrow, noticeably longer rooster neck feathers and 8-10 rays of ostrich feather which you attach evenly around the main arms. This is a fantastic material that works in every phase of running the lure, especially during pauses. At this stage I also add a minimal amount of soft flash, preferably with a UV effect.

4 I tie eyes, necessarily large (≥12mm). The most convenient are the so-called Tab Eyes, but you can attach a rack of stiffer line to the regular eyes. It is important that you can move the pupils as far as possible to the back of the fly. In addition, I glue the eyes to the feathers (with elastic glue) and set them at an angle of 35-40 degrees to the hook axis. This will make the shoulders of the squid pulsate even more intensely when driving the lure.

5 The torso is made from a strip of nutria skin cut "across" (so-called cross cut). You can additionally use a large cockerel feather of a contrasting color wound in parallel with the nutria. The nutria strip should be 3-5 mm wide, depending on the density of the hair. As you know, cephalopods have a fantastic ability to change colors, so in fact any scheme is allowed, but the most commonly used are shades of beige, white, black and purple.

After adding shrimp eyes, we call them Squimp. Then it makes a shrimp from a fly. Squid/Shrimp. Squimp
